Description (Abstract)
My theme for the MURC Conference is the relationship between different scents and the memories that are brought with them. This Fine Art research portfolio is created with one acrylic painting, and two mixed-media artworks. All artworks are 14'’ x 17'’, and consist of one self-portrait, along with an item that represents a scent. Each scent represents a memory that is brought to my mind from smelling each familiar object. One artwork is the scent of muffins (a memory of my mom baking during my childhood), another is the scent of Daffodils (a flower my grandmother planted that blooms around my birthday each year), and another artwork will be the scent of coffee (to represent fatigue, working hard, and dedication). Each artwork represents the emotion being evoked from smelling each object and reliving the memory attached to it. These research based artworks will be shared by using a poster board.
