Description (Abstract)

This research deals with the complexity of psychosocial factors which are associated with eating disorders among today's adolescents, one of the significant issues in modern psychology. Adolescence is a period of vulnerability in life where individuals go through changes in physique and psychology. It is a time when young people are most sensitive to food attitudes and body image perceptions. Despite progress, more research is still needed to fully understand the complexity of these disorders in the larger context of adolescents. This study’s purpose is to reveal how societal norms, media influence, family relations, psychological stress, coping mechanisms, and socioeconomic status interact. The holistic approach reveals the complexities in the lives of adolescents which helps in the development of preventive strategies and gives scope for customized interventions. The study highlights the significance of considering psychosocial contexts to understand and combat eating disorders among adolescents, emphasizing on targeted interventions to enhance relationships with food and shape positive body image during this critical period.
