Biography
Alyson Mooney ('22) is a Special Education teacher at Mepham High School, where she currently teaches ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) 9th-11th grade English and Social Studies classes. Passionate about supporting diverse learners, she focuses on fostering an inclusive classroom environment where all students can thrive. This year, she began incorporating AI as a support tool to enhance hands-on and creative learning experiences, designing engaging lessons that cater to different learning styles. By integrating AI-driven activities, adaptive problem-solving exercises, and project-based learning, she has been able to make complex concepts more accessible and interactive for her students.
In addition to her role in the classroom, Alyson is a dedicated cheerleading coach at her school, where she helps student-athletes build confidence, teamwork, and discipline. She also served as a co-chair for the For Molloy, By Molloy workshop committee for 2025, helping to shape meaningful professional development opportunities for educators. Outside of teaching and coaching, she enjoys reading, traveling, and continuously seeking new ways to bring creativity and innovation into her teaching practices. Whether exploring new places or diving into a good book, she is always looking for inspiration to enrich both her personal and professional life.

In the evolving educational landscape, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a pivotal tool for enhancing instructional design and fostering classroom innovation. This presentation, "Designing Hands-On Lesson Prompts with AI: A Guide for Future Educators," aims to equip Molloy University education students with the knowledge and skills to effectively integrate AI into their teaching practices. Participants will explore AI's role in creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences and learn to utilize AI-driven tools for prompt generation, content creation, and assessment. The session will also address ethical considerations, inclusivity, and practical strategies for implementing AI in diverse educational settings. Through interactive conversations and real-world examples, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of how AI can transform traditional teaching methodologies, fostering a more dynamic and personalized learning environment.
