Description
Rwandan Coil Weave Bowl or "Peace Basket” created in memoriam of the Rwandan Genocide. The rural Rwandan weavers who work together to create the baskets are all members of different tribes. The baskets are a message of reconciliation, peace, and hope for the future. The basket is handwoven from smooth sisal fibers and wrapped around native grasses and reeds. There is a loop at the top which allows the bowl to be hung for display.
