Description (Abstract)

This workshop explores school-based mental health supervision from the lived experiences of clinical supervisors overseeing mental health clinic services in inner city school based settings. Grounded in a interpretative phenomenological framework, emerging findings from qualitative research, will be shared including illustrative participant narratives that illuminate supervisory roles, challenges, and decision-making processes within schools. Through guided reflection and interactive dialogue, attendees will examine strategies for strengthening multicultural supervision practices and addressing systemic inequities that impact clinicians and the students they serve. Participants will leave with practical, equity-informed supervisory approaches that can be applied to enhance culturally responsive supervision and promote more just school-based mental health systems.
