Vapo - Cresolene Lamp

Description

This lamp was used to transform Vapo – Cresolene, a patented medicine that was used for upper respiratory issues into a gaseous state which a patient could breathe in. According to the lamp's packaging, this produced was designed to treat whooping cough, bronchitis, spasmodic croup, and asthma.

The product was produced by Vapo – Cresolene Company which was located in New York N.Y. The lamp is marked with the patent date of Aug. 4. 1885 – Aug. 8. 1888, and is made from ceramic, glass, and metal.
